Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? You can write to me or text me anytime at 314-312-1349 and I’ll be happy to get back to you ASAP.
How is this different from a spa massage?
The goal here is to relax you and provide lasting structural change that contributes to your daily life, not just relaxation in the moment. Every session is built around your specific needs after a brief intake conversation. The techniques I use — particularly myofascial release — work with the connective tissue layer that most massage doesn't reach. You'll feel a difference, and it will hold.
Will it hurt?
No. Deep doesn't have to mean painful. I use sustained, slow pressure that reaches the same depth as traditional deep tissue without the bracing, soreness, or "no pain no gain" experience. Depending on your goals, you may experience some soreness equivalent to a good workout the next day. Clients regularly describe the work as feeling "deep but comfortable." I'll always check in and adjust.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Before we start, we'll have a brief intake conversation about what's going on in your body and what you'd like to address. I'll ask about any injuries, medications, or areas of concern that could affect my decisions. The session itself is tailored to that conversation. Afterward, I'll share what I noticed and give you practical self-care recommendations to maintain progress between sessions.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, easily-removed clothing. Avoid heavy eye makeup that stains the sheets. You'll be draped during the session and only the area being worked will be exposed. Keep your underwear on if you like! Whatever makes you most comfortable. The exceptions are that long compression underwear, socks, or keeping a bra on for the session makes working in those areas challenging and limited to compression and breathing techniques. Expect to be oiled with broad, long uninterrupted passes of sustained pressure from hands and forearms.
Should I be quiet or talk during my massage?
Take a nap! Fall asleep! Unplug! The purpose of massage is to have time to relax your mind and body. You are not obligated to maintain a conversation with me. That being said, you are encouraged to communicate if you need something in order to be more comfortable. I want to provide you with the best experience possible; knowing if you are too hot, too cold, in an awkward or uncomfortable position, or need a moment to use the restroom is a key part of that. We can also change the music or fans or anything about the session.
What lotion/oil do you use?
My entire career I’ve paid a premium to use all-natural products that rely on olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax, and essential oils. My lubricant does not contain water which means no preservatives that disrupt your hormones.
Do you take tips?
No. Tips are not expected. The rate you pay is the complete price. If you'd like to show appreciation, the best thing you can do is book your next appointment before you leave.
How often should I come?
For most people, monthly is the sweet spot for maintaining the benefits of therapeutic massage and supporting ongoing wellness. If you're dealing with something acute, more frequent sessions may help initially. I'll give you an honest recommendation after your first session based on what I find.
Do you have availability today / this week?
Probably not — I'm typically booked out. Check my schedule for the earliest available time. If you have an urgent need, text me at 314-312-1349 and I'll let you know if anything opens up or refer you to a trusted colleague. This is exactly why I encourage monthly clients to book their next appointment at the end of every session.
Do you take insurance?
I can provide a receipt for insurance reimbursement purposes. All billing is direct — cash or the credit card required to hold your appointment. I don't bill insurance directly.
Do you do prenatal massage?
I'm trained in prenatal massage but my office doesn't have the specialized equipment needed to properly support a pregnant body. I'm happy to refer you to trusted colleagues who are fully set up for it. Text or email and I'll connect you.
Do you do couples massage?
I'm a solo therapist with one table, so I can't do two massages simultaneously. If you'd like back-to-back sessions on the same day, I can sometimes accommodate that. I can also coordinate with a colleague for a true tandem in-home couples experience — text me to discuss.
What's your cancellation policy?
24-hour notice is required for cancellations or reschedules without a fee. Cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment are charged 50% of the session rate. I appreciate your respect for my time and schedule.
What about hygiene and safety?
Please avoid heavy perfume, cologne, or strong-scented products before your session. Don't arrive having recently smoked cigarettes. Avoid a heavy meal in the hour before. Disclose all medication or alcohol consumed to avoid medical risk from changes in blood pressure. Alcohol may be grounds to terminate the session and will be subject to a cancellation fee.
